oUR STORY
HERITAGE. FLAVOR. TRADITION.
The Lollino family has been serving authentic Italian food for generations—it’s in our blood. It began with Pina Lollino, an Italian immigrant from Sicily, who brought the flavors of Italy to Chicago through her acclaimed restaurant, Ristorante Italia, for over 30 years. Next door, her husband Giuseppe introduced espresso to the U.S. at Bar Italia, where he also roasted coffee and crafted artisan gelato and sorbetto. Growing up in these family businesses, Angelo learned the craft that continues the tradition today.
SICILIAN BY HEART
Angelo grew up immersed in his parents’ love for Italian food and carried their passion forward. In 1999, he and his wife Giovanna opened Massa Café Italiano, a Chicago staple for 25 years known for authentic Italian dishes, award-winning gelato, and fresh roasted coffee. Among their most beloved offerings is Sicilian-style bakery pizza, adapted from Pina’s Ristorante Italia recipe. Once served as focaccia bread before it became popular in America, Angelo elevated it with toppings like burrata and specialty sauces while honoring the heart of his mother’s original creation.
PIZZA, PERFECTED
Five years ago, Angelo saw the lack of quality in frozen pizza and set out to share his family’s Sicilian-style bakery pizza with the world. After years of perfecting recipes, Massa Pizza Company was born. Today, we offer five varieties—Margherita, Italian Sausage, Veggie, Pepperoni, and Four Cheese—made with fresh ingredients, homemade sauce, and hand-formed crusts. Each pizza is crafted with care to deliver a restaurant-quality experience, straight from your freezer to the table.
iN THE SPOTLIGHT
In 2023, Angelo partnered with Food Network’s Jeff Mauro for a Mauro Provisions x Massa Pizza Company collaboration, featuring an Italian Beef Combo pizza made with USDA prime Italian beef, craft giardiniera, and locally made Italian sausage.
Earlier, in 2020, Dave Portnoy reviewed our frozen pizza, giving it a 7.8 and declaring, “Outer space called, they want their crunch back!”
That same year, Massa Pizza Company was also featured on QVC three times, bringing our Sicilian-style pizzas to homes nationwide.
